Betty Ballard
Teacher

Betty Ballard has taught in the North Carolina school system for 29 years. She is currently teaching at Independence High School in Charlotte in the areas of International Studies, Advanced Placement European History and World History.

Betty is the Senior Seminar teacher in the International Studies program and uses CNN Student News as part of her daily curriculum. She has taken student groups to England and Italy as part of the International Studies exchange program.

Betty has been recognized as an International Educator in Charlotte as a World Affairs Scholar and was voted as an International Educator from Independence High School. She is also her school's Key Club sponsor.

Betty earned her Bachelors degree in Education and History from Appalachian State University, and her Masters degree in Social Studies from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She has done post-graduate work at Davidson College in Dean Rusk Institute and the University of North Carolina-Charlotte.
