Jill Kohler
Teacher
Jill Kohler teaches 9th grade global
studies and 12th grade public policy at Longwood High School in Middle Island, New York.
Jill has been successfully using CNN Student News daily in her classes to teach current events
since the inception of the program. She has been a member of the Turner Learning National
Faculty for 10 years, and was featured in a CNN Student News television commercial. Jill has
also been featured in an Education Showcase episode and numerous publications spotlighting her
use of cable in the classroom.
Before moving to teach high school, Jill was an elementary school teacher for 20 years.
She belongs to numerous professional organizations and had the honor of being nominated for
Social Studies Teacher of the Year in 1991, and the New York State Teacher of the Year in 1992.
Jill is listed in Who's Who in American Teachers, and she participated in a teacher exchange
in England.
Jill holds a B.A. in Psychology and Education from Long Island University and a Master of Arts
in Liberal Studies from Stony Brook University.
