Carol Pineiro
Senior Lecturer
Carol Pineiro teaches Academic English
to international students at the Center for English Language, as well as Communication Skills
to international teaching fellows at the Graduate School of the College of Arts and Sciences,
at Boston University in Boston, Massachusetts.
Carol uses CNN Student News in ESL and Business English classes to help her students stay
informed of developments in the U.S. and other countries. She presents frequently on how to
use video in higher education at state and national conferences. She is co-author of two ESL
texts, sole author of an ESL video series for adults, and contributing author to an online
Business English course. Carol has taught English as a Foreign Language and trained EFL teachers
in several European and Latin American countries. She has also worked as an Adjunct Lecturer of
Business Communication in Boston University's International Management Program at the Sanyo Company
in Japan. Her other interests include using web-based communication tools in language teaching,
and of course, traveling to different countries and learning more about her students' history and
culture.
Carol holds a B.S. in Elementary Education from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania,
her home state. She also holds an M.Ed. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages and an
Ed.D. in Educational Media and Technology, both from Boston University.
