Lois J. Ellis Wolfe
Coordinator of Social Studies
Lois Wolfe is the coordinator of social
studies in Georgia's Henry County School System.
Lois has been honored for numerous accomplishments throughout her twenty-seven years of
teaching. She has been named Hickory Flat Teacher of the Year, Clayton County Reading
Teacher of the Year, Outstanding Georgia Social Science Educator, Kohl International Teaching
Award recipient and was selected Italian-American Woman of the Year. Lois was also selected
to participate in the Fulbright Memorial Fund Teacher Program, and she traveled to Japan to
study the educational system in that country.
Lois had the honor of being one of five Georgia teachers selected to train at National Geographic's
Education Program. She is an active member of the Georgia Geographic Alliance as a Teacher
Consultant. Lois is affiliated with various organizations such as Georgia Council for the Social
Studies, National Council for the Social Studies, and National Council for Geographic Education.
Lois received her BA degree from Fairmont State College in Fairmont, West Virginia, her MA
degree from West Virginia University, and a DAST degree (Specialist in Education) at Emory
University in Atlanta, Georgia. She was awarded a full scholarship to work toward her Ph.D. at
Emory University; she has completed all course work and has currently completed the first draft
of her dissertation.
