In this school year, educational facilities will embark on ever-increasing ways to
explore the world through media. Many more school systems are using the Internet, web casts,
digital video formats, non-linear editing devices, studio infrastructure, and field production
to create authentic learning experiences. CNN Student News is here to help you achieve your goals.
Our product includes a complete, easy-to-use, online Journalism Curriculum, as well as
Support and Service. We expect these products will make the exploration of journalism even more
valuable to your students.
This year includes more streamlined processes. For example, Conference Calls, for
those who purchase Support and Service, will be focused around a single curriculum topic.
The Curriculum is streamlined so that students can learn to produce quality news packages in a
step-by-step manner, beginning with organizing the story and progressing through editing the final product.
Student reporters do not act as agents of CNN, but CNN Student News does recognize their commitment
to news. Suggestions in the Curriculum will help instructors create learning experiences that engage
future journalists. You're not learning if you're not fully engaged in what you're doing.
This school year will also see the return of "CNN Student News." Educators can watch
and record the 10-minute program on Headline News from 3:12 - 3:22 am EST, Monday through Friday, to
replay in classrooms. "CNN Student News" will commence airing on Monday, August 18th.
Remind your budding journalists to always be aware of the news around them, read all that they can,
become knowledgeable in issues that concern young people, and seek to inform!
