Overcoming Stage Fright

Shirley Garrett finishes the storytelling sessions by talking about overcoming stage fright. She explains that the role of a good audience is to help a speaker feel comfortable by applauding the speaker, and she has the class practice for each student. To the teller, she says that a good knowledge of the story, sufficient practice, and use of gestures and voices will help him or her to overcome fear. While the practice demonstrated here may seem unimportant, it really is a great help to students before they try their first story in front of an audience.
